Big (Tex) Day

On Thursday, we only had a half-day of school, so we decided (even though it felt like a million degrees) to go to the State Fair of Texas. Liam was kind of freaked out by Big Tex, and let's face it, he is kind of creepy, so I quickly snapped the obligatory Big Tex picture and moved onto more important things...food!

Of course, like all good Americans, freshly fried food was mandatory. We didn't try the fried butter, deep-fried bacon, or fried latte--we're not that adventurous.

Let me tell you, the Fletcher corn dogs were pretty scrumptious in all their greasy glory.

And the funnel cakes almost sent us into a state of food nirvana.

Liam had a great time at Little Hands on the Farm. He fed chickens, milked cows, planted seeds, and drove a tractor. In the end, his hard work paid off, and he earned his first paycheck.

Which he blew right away on fruit snacks. Hope this isn't a sign of his future spending habits, but he did enjoy each and every one of those fruit snacks, so it was well worth it!
