Cake Balls!

All of a sudden these delectable little cake balls seem to be everywhere! On Saturday, our church had a ladies birthday brunch. It was lots of fun...all the tables were gorgeously decorated according to each person's birthday month. It was a great opportunity meet different women in the church. My birthday table, April, was all all decked out for Easter. The women who decorated it actually were able to track down daffodils--not an easy task in January. Anyway, we each had individual Easter egg "cakes" at our place settings which were actually cake balls. And let me tell you, they lived up to the hype; they were delicious.

Since they seemed easy enough to make, I decided to try my hand at making a batch. Jon's wonderful mom's birthday is Monday (today)--just in time for my cake ball experiment. Liam was very curious about the whole process and kept saying, "Nana's cake!" Much to his disappointment, I didn't let him help at all in the baking part, but as you can see from the pictures, he helped quite a bit in the clean-up process.

Happy Birthday, Nana. We love you!

Under The CounterWeather

Liam was running a slight fever last weekend, and although it was gone by Sunday, I decided to take him to the doctor for a check-up since it seems like he's been sick quite a bit in the past month or so. After his exam checked out fine and dandy, the doctor decided to do blood work, just to make sure everything was okay. His blood count almost immediate came back in the normal range, but we had to wait a couple of days for the results of the other tests. Well, I just received a call from the doctor, and apparently although Liam is currently negative for mononucleosis, he's had it in the past. Once you've had the virus, although dormant and inactive, it remains detectable in your body, but it rarely ever reoccurs. WOW. So Liam has had mono, and Jon and I didn't even know it. Yikes! I guess the good news is, since he's so young it's not as debilitating, but it's crazy that he has had it at all. He's fine now, though, but it's been a rough flu season in the Bushwar household. I'm definitely getting ready for spring and hoping the sick bugs have left the house!

Like Father, Like Son

Can you tell what the boys in the household are obsessing about lately?

Let Them Eat Cake...

Liam and Mama were both craving some chocolate cake. The boy knows how to enjoy his food.

"Baby's" First Haircut

It's done. The baby curls are gone. Today was the the big day.

Jon stepped up to the plate and took the kid by the curls...

And chopped and chopped

And clipped and buzzed.

At first, Liam didn't really know what to think.

But after a little bit, he felt okay with his new look.

Daddy did a great job!

And right before our eyes, our baby transformed into a little boy.

Warm Weather=Park

The city of Irving just renovated a park that's really close to our house, and right now it's Liam's favorite hang-out. In fact, we went on Saturday and again today. And if the weather cooperates, we'll probably be back another day this week.

Who is This Guy and What is He Doing???

Who is this guy and what is he doing? The answer to the first question is pretty easy…it’s my wonderful, nurturing, and sweet husband, Jon. The answer to the second is a quite a bit more boggling. Wait for it… He. Is. Gaming. That’s right. Here he is in all his glory with his brand new head set, looking like he should be taking someone’s burger and fry order at a drive-through. One disclaimer, though. The guy he’s playing soccer with and talking to is a real friend—a college buddy who lives in Korea—not someone he’s only met in cyberspace. That makes me feel a little better.

Here's Jon's buddy, Scott. I think wearing a hood over the head-gear is required. :)

Our (Guitar) Hero

Liam and Jon have a new past time--they're rock stars.

Whoops!

I guess I had my days confused yesterday. It just dawned on my that today is actually the 14th, not yesterday. All day yesterday I was writing "1/14/10." Geesh! So, Liam is officially 21 months TODAY. Sometimes I don't know where the heck my brain goes. :)

Twenty-One

Today this little guy is 21 months old. Only three more months until we officially reach the "Terrible Two's." I don't think he'll make it too rough on us.
But then again, this face promises lots of mischievous moments ahead.

Baby, Baby

Recently we shared with everyone that I’m pregnant with twins. That’s right, TWINS! And Jon and I couldn’t be happier. Previous to the pregnancy, we both felt three kiddos would be a perfect number to complete our family, and it looks like that’s going to happen sooner rather than later. Now, we know things are going to be a little nuts and chaotic around our house for the next few (or more) years, and we’re slightly nervous about having three kids under the age of three for the greater part of a year, but we’re confident we can handle the challenge. After all, since we’re both teachers, we deal with about 200 crazy middle-schoolers all day. It’ll feel like a break when we get home and just have three to handle. Also, my sister, Debby, is expecting in June, too, and I’m so excited that our babies will be so close in age. It’s such an exciting time in our family! Here are sonogram pictures from my last two doctor visits. The babies are growing nicely, and my doctor says that everything looks great. We appreciate all the prayers…please keep them coming over the next five months (and years, for that matter).
From my visit on January 4...Here are pictures of the top to each baby's head. The doctor just takes these to make sure the babies are growing at approximately the same rate.

Here are the babies first body shots. Kind of hard to see, but still really cute!

Liam Painting

One big perk of having a husband who is an artist, besides the fact that he is amazingly creative and incredibly talented, is that he brought some pretty amazing, creative, and incredibly talented friends into my life as well. One of these individuals is Carolyn Nelson. Today we picked up a painting she created of Liam, and it is absolutely my favorite thing in the world at right now...Her work is breath-taking! Take a look and see:

Happy 2010!

As usual, Jon and I had an absolutely riveting New Year's Eve...complete with Chinese take-out, chocolate fondue, sparkling cider, sweat pants, and watching t.v. The funny thing is, our New Year's Eve festivities haven't changed at all since having Liam. This is how we always have spent New Year's Eve--not our favorite night to go out. Who says having kids puts a crimp in your style?!? Anyway, here's to a new year full of lots of new adventures!
