Snow Day

Our winter has arrived all in one week here in DFW.  Our sleet from the beginning of the week transformed into snow today.  And the kids loved every cold, wet, flaky minute of it.

Sleet Days

Our weekend was extended by a couple of days as sleet covered the metroplex.
The kids had fun playing in the "snow."
Correction.  Ellery and Liam had fun playing outside.
I was pretty sure one of them would end up in the pool, but to my surprise, they did not.
Marin was happy to come inside after a few minutes of cold weather play.  Watching t.v. on the couch and munching mozzarella sticks was more appealing to her.
After spending the first day in pajamas, Ellery requested a bow, braid, and twirly dress on day number two.  She was done slumming it around our house.
Here's Liam at his favorite spot on the stairs.  I'd like to say that he was reading a book, but he wasn't. That's an iPad that captivated his attention.
Marin was a unicorn the entire second day.
And Daddy was our hero when he braved the elements to make a Sonic run for drinks.
Hands-down, the very best thing about icy days inside are the sweet cuddles on the couch with these three little ones.

LOVE(ly) Houston Weekend

It's a cold, rainy night here in DFW...In fact, a weather day has already been called for school tomorrow because it's supposed to be an icy mess on the roads in the morning.  Was it really just last weekend that we were dining and lounging outside on Valentine's Day?  The cousins were decorating cupcakes and so happy being with each other?  It was such a lovely Valentine's weekend with Grandma, Grandpa, Debby, Jeff, and kiddos.  And we even squeezed in a double-date with Debby and Jeff to Taste of Texas.  YUM.

Random Time Sample: Feb. 19, 3:50pm

Liam is cleaning up his room.  On his radio, Bruce Springsteen is singing, "Born in the U.S.A."
Marin and Ellery are also cleaning up their room.  They've just entered into a heated debate as to the probability of the existence of male unicorns.  Marin says, nope.  All unicorns are girls.  Ellery is more open to the idea of a boy unicorn.  They settle the debate by agreeing that they want a real monkey for their birthday.
I'm looking at the pantry (between typing up this blog) and wondering if I should do rice pilaf or scalloped potatoes with the chicken for tonight's dinner.
Daddy is still working hard in the art room at MacArthur.

Celebrating Love!

Valentine's school parties are always so sweet.  I love the happiness and kindness in these little classrooms.
Best Buddies!
And then as I was about to leave Liam's party, he stopped me and told me that he wanted to show me the inside of his desk.  He gave me a little tour of where he keeps his pencils, paper, books, and crayons.  Finally, he took out a folder, pulled out a pink creation from its pocket, handed it to me and said with his super smooth 1st grader smile, "Oh, I wonder who this is for?"  Be still my heart.

Sweet Little Somethings

The Valentines are officially signed, sealed, and ready to be delivered.  Here are this year's sweet little somethings from our little Valentines.
Ellery's Toad-ally Hoppy to celebrate with her friends.
Marin is giving her heart (bracelets) to her Valentines.
And Liam thinks that the stickers on his pirate Valentines arrrrrrrr grrrrrrrrreat.
Here's Liam with his monster eyes shoe box ready to collect cards from all his friends at his class party tomorrow.
These three little Bushwars are ready to party!

Showin' Off Her Dance Moves

So now that Ellery's been in dance for a little while, she has learned some pretty sweet moves.

And although the girls have been doing different activities, it looks like Ellery may be migrating back to gymnastics.  I know she loves gymnastics, but maybe it has something to do with being back in class with her sister, too...
