Field Day 2016

Field Day is one of those big days at Sloan that the kids look forward to every year.  This year all three Bushwars participated in the fun.

15 Years

Tonight was Irving ISD's Emplyee Service Awards.  It's hard to believe that I've been teaching in Irving for 15 years.  Counting the three years I taught at Triton in Minnesota, that's 18 years in classrooms of some sort or another.  I love this calling.  I love the students I have the privilege of teaching and getting to know their families.  I love learning from them.  I've never once regretted this career path.  I guess at this point, I'm a "lifer."  Here's to the next 15!

Weekending in Galveston

While Jon was away in San Antonio for VASE (state high school art competition), the kids and I hit the road for a weekend in Galveston with Debby, Jeff, Grandma, Grandpa, and cousins.

The weather was perfect, so we spent a lot of time at the beach.

We stayed at the Galvez, so we spent plenty of time at the pool, too.

Grandpa wanted to take all the bigger kids to brunch on Saturday, and he did a pretty impressive job keeping all the little ducks in a row.  Debby and I may or may not have been stalking them from a booth a safe distance away...just to make sure.  ;-)

And after brunch, a trip to the gift shop.

Then it was back to the beach for our gang.

Later that afternoon, we headed to the Strand for some shopping and an ice cream and candy break at LaKing's.

On Saturday evening, we celebrated Liam's birthday one last time.
