Bonus Stop: Birmingham, Alabama

We spent the first night of our journey in Birmingham, Alabama.  The next morning, we had time to take in some of the sights, so we headed downtown to check out the Civil Rights Heritage Trail and the 16th Street Baptist Church, where four little girls died when a bomb went off during a church service and triggered a call to movement in civil rights.
