Cabin in the Woods

My Uncle Scott's cabin...A beautiful, cozy little spot directly on the shores of Lake Superior.

 Here's the backyard...

A Day in Duluth

Jon, the kiddos, and I took off from Owatonna yesterday morning for a little vacation time on the North Shore of Lake Superior.  Our first stop was Duluth's Canal Park where the kids had fun casing seagulls, exploring the shipping museum, walking out on the pier to the little lighthouse, and watching a laker come in to port.  In the evening, we headed up to my uncle's cabin to spend the night before making our way farther north today.

Zoo Day

We spent a beautiful Saturday at the Minnesota Zoo.  We were there for six hours...which is a long time to be at a zoo with four little tykes, seven adults, and no naps, but it was a huge success.  There was a lot to see.  And see it, we did.  And all our little creatures loved it all!

Uncle Patrick and Liam, A.K.A The Wolf Pack

Mom found her favorite--the flamingos!

Liam's preferred mode of transportation is on top of Grandpa's shoulders.

Those are camels standing in a pool of water in back of Dad and Mom.

Welcome to the farm!

The girls enjoyed a puppet show while the boys rode the monorail.

This shot is towards the end of the day...we look a little tuckered out.

Liam even saw dinosaurs.

We ended the day the marine area where the kids could pet sting rays and little sharks.

Boys and Fireworks

These two took a trip to the fireworks store, and
 came back with a mini-arsenal.

Uncle Patrick was in on the action, too.

Liam was not too keen on the sparklers.

Grandpa teaching Liam that it's fun to play with fire.

Grandma liked the smoke bombs the best.

Grandpa getting a little wild and crazy...but what else is new.  :)

Fabulous Fourth

A morning parade in the middle of hot corn fields, little people fetching candy from floats, fireworks in a parking lot and sparklers in the driveway, afternoon swimming in Grandma and Grandpa's front yard, grilled hot dogs, little red, white, and blue outfits, boys playing baseball, and a little town that stayed up late to cheer for fireworks.  That was our fabulous Fourth this year.
