This is what happens in the life of a 5-year-old...at Grandma and Grandpa's...on a Saturday night in September...in a small town...with a bag full of fireworks leftover from the 4th of July. Thanks to Uncle Patrick and Jamie for lighting them up!
Not only was Saturday a terrific day for apples and pumpkins, it was also a perfect day to hike in the Big Woods at Nerstrand. Liam, with the help of Grandma and Grandpa, had fun collecting leafs for a school project. Nothing beats the smells, sounds, and sights of Autumn quickly approaching.
Liam and Mama had a little getaway weekend in Minnesota to usher in Fall. And Saturday did not disappoint--60s and sunny--perfect weather for our annual Apple Ride, complete with a visit to a real pumpkin patch. We wish Daddy, Marin, and Ellery could have come, too, but we did bring them back bags of Honey Crisp apples and mini-pumpkins.
Even though it's still in the high nineties around DF/W, the cool front is about to roll in on Friday. Fall officially starts on Sunday, so the time has come...
Today our little gals are exactly three years and three months old.
Marin is known for quotes like, "I'n behave now." She's our free-spirit whose mouth and body are in constant motion. She makes crazy faces, rolls her eyes, and never misses a chance to cuddle on the couch.
Ellery is our little soul sister who loves puzzles, reading, and princesses. Her eyes smile as brightly as her lips. She has a quiet confidence that shines through when she sings and recites Bible verses. Church is one of her favorite places to hang out.
Today was Liam's first full-time experience in "big" church with Jon and me. After a trip to Target to pick out some paper/pencil activities, he was ready to go. Sitting between Mama and Daddy, he did a terrific job. The only minor hiccup occurred when the offering plate was passed, and his fingers reached toward a $10 bill. Daddy was quick, though, and swiftly passed the plate before contact took place.
I don't remember how or when exactly it started, but sometimes Jon and I look at each other and decide something (or someone) is crazy, bizarre, or NUTS, and we mutter, "Banana sandwiches." This term can also describe life in the Bushwar house, so what better title for a blog about the ooey-gooey and the sometimes crazy moments of my life?
