Busy Halloween Day

School parties are fun!

Time for trick or treating.  The first stop was Memaw and Poppie's house and then, it was over to Nana and Papa's place.

We couldn't miss the neighborhood block party with friends from church.  The Frazee's were kind enough to host "Light the Night."  What a super time for the adults to visit and the kids to play with friends from church.

It's Halloween!

Little Sweets and Deep Dives

This year's Halloween costumes--

At first, Liam decided to be Darth Vader when we asked him what he wanted to be for Halloween, but a day or two later, he changed his mind to a deep sea diver.  As soon as I started getting the costumes together, I realized that this must not be a popular choice because it was virtually impossible to find a pre-fab deep sea diver costume for little guys, so I was left to make one.  Here's how we improvised:

It's Carving Time!

Last night we gathered our pumpkins and dusted off our carving tools and got down to business at the Tucker's Annual Pumpkin Carving party.  Somehow, all the guys actually ended up actually doing the work.  The kids loved playing with new friends and trying on their costumes for the first time.  We all had a such a good time, and we're so happy that the Tuckers are back in Texas!

The King of the Kid Pile

Tonight...
All it takes is Daddy laying on the floor for a second, and the kids are happy to pile on, and he becomes a human playground.

Liam Chats

I love the stuff that makes up 4-year-old conversations with adults.  Here's what has been on Liam's mind lately--

"I have six hearts bouncing around in my body--mine, Daddy's, Mama's, Ellery's, Marin's, and Jesus'."

"I think the clouds are made made out of mashed potatoes."

And another cloud reference--
"The clouds are the sun's mama.  Every night she tucks it in, then it gets dark, and the sun goes to sleep."

"I wish the week went Friday, Friday, Friday, Friday..."

While "reading" a book, "I can read.  I'm a great reader.  I am a scientist."

"That's dadusking."  (Translation:  That's disgusting.  Not, that's the dust king)

"Did Goliath live up in the clouds with the other giant before David killed him?"  (It's easy to mix up David and Goliath and Jack and the Beanstalk, right?)

"I wish the rain was made of milk drops instead of water drops."

"Let's eat at Taco Cabueno today."  (For the record, we do eat at Taco Cabana and Taco Bueno, but I don't know where I would find a Taco Cabueno.)

And on the airplane to Minnesota, he had this to say:  "Which way is Heaven?  Over there?"

And every once in a while on the plane, he would just chant, "Fe Fi Fo Fum...I smell the blood of an Englishman."  Who knows, maybe we had some Brits on the plane, but I think the better theory is that Liam was hoping to run across Jack and the giant beanstalk as we flew through the clouds.

Butterfly Flutterby

We knew that we landed in the right spot on Saturday morning when we were greeted with wings, glitter, and bobbing antennas on Main Street in Grapevine.  It was the annual Butterfly Flutterby when thousands of butterflies migrating to Mexico from Canada make a quick stop in Grapevine while traveling south for the winter.  We enjoyed the parade, the butterfly release, the arts and crafts, and pretty autumn scenes on a picture-perfect Saturday morning in October.

The girls loved the parade!  After all, they are my daughters.  :)

Releasing butterflies was, of course, the main event.

...And I can never resist taking some pictures with the kids when a cozy autumn scene presents itself.
