Morning at the Museum

Liam had a more active social life than Jon and I did today. He got to tag along to the science museum with his buddy, Owen. Sounds like they had lots of fun digging up dinosaur bones, playing with firetrucks, and seeing the new water exhibit.

35 Weeks and Counting

Today I'm officially 35 weeks pregnant, and that means it's getting close to the end. AND I'M READY TO BE DONE! I think. It really seems like I've been pregnant much longer than 8 months. The heartburn, lack of quality sleep, and overall discomfort from being pretty huge has been much more magnified with this pregnancy, but I've just been trying to focus on the goal--two baby girls to complete our family. We're so excited to meet our little ladies. The doctor said if I can make it until the beginning of June, we'd be "walking in high cotton." I think that's Southern for, "Make sure these babies to stay put for the next week, and then they can come anytime after that." My goal is to make it at least two or three more weeks. The longer the better to make sure these girls are fully developed and ready to meet the world!

This past weekend our sweet Sunday school class threw us a baby shower. The food was fabulous--quiche, turkey salad, fresh fruit, cranberry walnut lettuce salad, pumpkin muffins, crab puffs, and a beautiful cake. It was so much fun to open gifts of pretty little girly things. We truly love our class and are so thankful for each and every one. This was actually our second shower for the girls. The teachers at one of my schools threw me a surprise shower before my bed rest started, and that was pretty special, too.

Balloon Torture Fun

We went to Sonic about forty times this weekend. Avoiding a trip to the grocery store to pick up a 12-pack of Diet Coke, Sonic became our easier option. Anyway, on one of those trips, a guy dressed up like a clown was passing out balloons. Liam happily accepted an orange one.

As soon as we got home, he took balloon craziness to an entirely new level.

For the first ten minutes, he tried to pop it by sitting on it.

Jon and I cringed each time he plopped down, but that balloon refused to pop.
Not one to give up, Liam tried a new strategy...

He released it below the ceiling fan and watched as the blades swept it around and around. Still it didn't pop.

But, that was okay because this little boy seemed to like seeing his Mama and Daddy squirm even more than he enjoyed playing with the balloon.

The Three of Us

Jon and I have been married almost four years, and over half of that time, we've been blessed with Liam. Sometimes it's hard to remember what life was like before it was the three of us. Our family is on the cusp of adding two more little miracles, and we couldn't be happier! The time we've had with Liam as our one and only little one is quickly coming to an end, and lately I've been thinking back over the past couple of year and the memories that we've accumulated--some stressful, some joyful, some fun, some exhausting, but all wrapped in layers of love.. Here are some of the memories and fun adventures the three of us have had during Liam's first year...

Summer Cut

We decided it was time for Liam to get his second official haircut today. With the weather getting warmer and a little boy who loves to play outside, Jon went a little shorter this time around.
At first I don't think Liam liked it...

But he seemed to have a change of heart.

Here is his new, low-maintenance summer look!

Mother's Day 2010

It's been a very special Mother's Day today. Jon and Liam made me a delicious breakfast of bacon, strawberries with cream cheese dip, and oatmeal with a yummy homemade caramelized oat topping. I think Liam ate about nine whole strawberries! Afterwards we went to church where he made me a precious little picture with his little hand prints.

We went to Jon's parents' house for a yummy steak dinner tonight. It was my third year of celebrating Mother's Day as a Mama, and it just keeps getting better and better. My only wish is that I would have been able to spend time with my Mom and Grandma today, too, but I was able to talk to both of them. I know my Mom will be down here soon--in less than a month--so it's nice to know I'll see her then.

Nana and the grand kids who love, love, love her.
My Mom and Grandma. Two pretty amazing Moms!

Busy Saturday

Although I'm technically on "bed rest," the doctor has given me the okay (at this point) to still be out and about. His only stipulation is that I take it easy. In the morning, Jon took the Saturn on a final drive before selling it. Goodbye, plastic car. I was actually a little sad to see it go. One thing I loved about that car was that Jon always slipped off one of his flip-flop every time he drove it in order to make it easier for him to release the clutch. I am happy to have it out of the driveway, though.

Liam went to a swim party on Saturday afternoon, and had lots of fun splashing in the pool with Daddy. That evening we went to a housewarming party for some friends in our Sunday school class. It was a fun day, but I ended up going to bed before 10:00. How's that for a wild and crazy Saturday night?

Crazy Faces

We took Liam to have his 2-year-old pictures made on Saturday. This was the photo shoot could also be called, "The Crazy Faces of Liam." These are some of the tamer ones in the set...

May Outlook

I have a feeling May is going to be a pretty big month for us. Jon is taking over almost all the household chores, wrapping up the school year, and begins his Masters in Education in Administration at the end of the month. Starting on Monday, I'm going on bed rest for the duration of my pregnancy, so my school year is now officially over. And May is Liam's last month of being an only child. That sure seems like a lot for one month.
