Apples, Pumpkins, and Hikes

Since before I can remember, my family has taken an annual Apple Ride in the Fall which always includes a trip to a farm for fresh produce, an orchard for apples, a hike in Nerstrand Woods, and lunch (or dinner) somewhere in Northfield (usually at Hogan Brothers).  Saturday was Aunt Jamie, Marin and Ellery's first official Apple Ride.  Marin and Ellery want to go again this weekend, but I don't think we can swing another trip to the MN so soon.

Resistance Is Futile

The girls and I just got back from a quick weekend in Minnesota visiting family and finding Fall.  It was glorious.  Our first outing was to Minnesota's Largest Candy Store, near Jordan, and it truly lives up to its name and more.  Not just a candy store, it also has the world's largest soda selection, fresh produce (including a pumpkin patch) from their orchard and farm, and warm pies made by the owner's 88-year-old father.  Polka music and the  smell of sugar filled the air inside the funky yellow structure.  Where else could you purchase not only a pack of candy cigarettes, but also an entire case?  "Resistance is Futile" could be their motto.  And although it's possible that I developed a cavity just by walking through the doors, it was a pretty sweet experience.

#8, 9, 10

Saturday morning was all about soccer and baseball games...and both at the same time.  Jon and I had to divide an conquer to make it happen.  He took the girls to their first soccer game, and I took Liam to his first coach-pitch baseball game.  Daddy and the girls met us at the baseball fields after they were done.  Good games, #8, 9, 10!

Six Flags Saturday Surprise

We had a fun surprise for the kids on Saturday morning--their first trip to Six Flags.  It was a cool morning in September in Texas, so it was the perfect day to be outside.  We only stayed for a couple of hours, but since it's fairly close to our house and we decided to get season passes, that's probably what we'll be doing most of the time.

Next Up...Soccer!

The girls started soccer tonight with friends from Sloan School.  They had fun, and they all looked absolutely adorable running around on the field, chasing after the soccer ball...or climbing on the goal...or kicking over orange cones.

All geared up and ready to get started...
Time to take to the field...
Let's go Orange Kickers!

More Than Just a Game

We had tickets for last night's Rangers game against the Mariners.  But for the first time in what seems like months, it rained.  And rained.  And rained.  This might have put a damper on the night if it was just a regular game at the ballpark.  However, it just happened to be Star Wars night, so even though we left before the first pitch (delayed until after 10 pm), we still had a blast.  We saw galactic characters, had a hot dog, peanuts, and Nerds picnic, received R2D2 caps, and Daddy was even asked to participate in a photo opp or two because of his nostalgic Ron Washington jersey....You may see him on multiple Facebook pages of people we don't even know.  Anyway, we ended up leaving around  nine with three wet, happy, and TIRED children.
